10 things to pack in your Baby hospital bag!

Babies don't really need much right away so this list was a stretch to put together. Here are the 10 things I think you need to have packed in your Baby hospital bag. These are just items for Baby! I also have a list of 10 things to pack in Your hospital bag

1) Going Home Outfit!
Pick an outfit that has legs so Baby will fit in the carseat! Take into consideration the weather when Baby is due and plan accordingly! Sleepers are easy and warm, plus they've got some rather cute ones out now!

2) Hand Mits!
If you plan on using hand mits to protect Baby from scratching his/her face I would pack these to use right away in the hospital. If you don't plan on using these, which we never did, skip them!

3) Nursing Cover!
If you plan on breastfeeding and want to be covered I would bring a nursing cover! I prefer the type that have the boning around the neck so you can see baby while feeding but remain covered.

4) Blankets!
If you have any special blankets you want Baby to use I would pack those as well. Babies are comforted by familiar smells and a blanket coming from your home will smell like you, which is what Baby has been smelling for the last 9 months!

5) Diapers!
If you plan on cloth diapering or using a different brand of diaper than your hospital provides you'll need to bring those with as well.

6) Wipes!
I am not a big fan of the brand of wipes our hospital provides so I always pack a container of my own. Just make sure you bring enough wipes if you plan to bring your own since you'll need plenty of them to clean up the mecconium poops!

7) Swaddlers!
Most hospital now provide a swaddler to use while in the hospital but if you want a different brand or aren't sure if your hospital offers them I would bring your own. Babies like to be kept close after being born and swaddling is a great way to provide that secure feeling.

8) Hat!
Again, most hospitals provide a baby hat but they're not nearly as cute as you can find from stores or online. Just make sure it's small enough to fit on a newborn's head and warm enough!

9) Ped's Information!
Bring along your pediatrician's information so the hospital can call them to report the birth or you can call without having to search for the phone number.

10) CARSEAT!
Make sure you have the carseat and base installed in your vehicle. I recommend doing this a few weeks before your due date so that your Husband isn't frantically trying to install it while you're being discharged or having to run back home to get it while you're recovering in the hospital!

Again, I really believe the only things Baby truly needs right after birth is a hat to keep their heads warm, Mama milk or formula, and diapers/wipes. This list was a stretch but everything included is helpful to have on hand!
