Most of us have been invited to a Baby shower or two. Unless you're already a Mom it can be hard to know what the new Mama and Baby will really need. Even the Mama-to-be probably doesn't know what she'll really need and use. Here's my top 10 best baby shower gifts!
1) Diapers!
Whether Mama is planning to disposable or cloth diaper she'll need LOTS of them. Diapers of every size are the best gift you can give a new Mama! I recommend getting size 3 and up since most guests gift newborn or size 1 diapers and Baby will need bigger diapers soon enough!
2) Wipes!
This goes along with diapers in the fact that they're something that will be used a gazillion times each day. I always get fragrance free to avoid possible allergies. If Mama is making her own wipes you can always get lots of fabric for her to use!
3) CD's!
Music of any kind is great for Mama and Baby to listen to throughout the day and at night. Anything from classical to natural and everything in between. Music is great for lifting the mood of a tired Mama and soothing a fussy Baby.
4) Books!
Soft books, hard cover books, story books, picture books, all children's books make great gifts! Having a well stocked library is something most new Mama's overlook until Baby is older and books can get expensive! Bring a used book with good memories or a brand new book or anything in between. You can even write a well-wish, poem, prayer, etc on the front cover and sign it!
5) Nursing Pad's!
If Mama is nursing she'll need nursing pads to contain the mess that can be feeding a newborn! Reusable are fine but require washing so I recommend disposables.
6) Bottles!
If Mama is bottle feeding the more bottles she has the less washing she has to do. If Mama is nursing she'll still want bottle to store pumped milk in for dates, going back to work, etc. Ask Mama if she prefers glass over plastic.
7) Journal or Calendar!
Buy Mama a pretty Journal or Calendar so she can document the latest and greatest that her new Baby has done! I like to include a note about writing down the little things now because you'll enjoy looking back at those details when the Baby is older!
8) Mommy Necklace!
Ok, so I have to admit, I fell head over heels in love with these nursing necklaces! They have a safety break away clasp that prevents the necklace from breaking if Baby pulls on it. The beads are all toxin free and gorgeous! I love these necklaces and I think they're a unique gift! Babies love to play with them and Mama's love not having their hair or skin pulled upon! They work for nursing or bottle feeding Mama's!
9) Meals!
Every Mama is sore and tired after delivering a Baby. The last thing she wants to do is cook a meal for herself and her Husband. You can set up a meal plan for her friends and family to sign up to bring meals throughout her recovery period!
10) House Cleaning!
Offer to come over and clean her home. This can be anything from laundry to dishes, mopping to bathrooms! Any little bit helps!
